Multi-Unit Remodels

So Little Time on a Budget

This Section 8 Apartment underwent a wholesale remodel in less than 10 days on a minimal budget. Kitchen cabinets were reused—removing the upper cabinets formerly hung from the ceiling that were too high to be usable. White backsplash tiles brighten the food prep area and can be more easily maintained than paint. New luxury vinyl floors replaced 20-year-old carpet and the ’50s bathtub and rusted original window were replaced with glass block and a custom step-in shower. Costs were kept to a minimum using the same paint color throughout, the same flooring throughout, the same window coverings throughout. Instead of curtain panels with rings that would inevitable be tugged at by the three young boys in the house, the owner opted for grommet-top drapery panels on inexpensive IKEA drapery rods.
